Our researchers are at the heart of what we do.
Research remains pivotal in advancing our understanding of breast cancer. With no direct Government funding, New Zealand researchers rely on the generosity of everyday Kiwi’s and Breast Cancer Cure to continue their life-changing work and it is essential we enable them to innovate and lead improvements, to stop people dying from this disease.

Professor Andrew Shelling
Professor Andrew Shelling is Breast Cancer Cure’s Principal Researcher and a long-standing advisor to the Board. As Head of the Medical Genetics Group and Director of the Centre for Cancer Research at the University of Auckland, his work focuses on uncovering the molecular changes behind breast and ovarian cancer. This research is helping pave the way for earlier detection and more targeted, effective treatments, bringing us closer to a future free from breast cancer.
